De MSI GeForce RTX 5070 Ti Ventus 3X OC biedt de volledige RTX 5070 Ti ervaring met uitstekende prestaties die de GeForce RTX 4080 FE en de AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX verslaan in synthetische benchmarks en gaming. De RTX 5070 Ti Ventus 3X OC geeft voorrang aan functionaliteit boven vorm met enkele inruilmogelijkheden, maar succes met het bemachtigen van een exemplaar voor de door Nvidia voorgeschreven prijs van $749.

Verdict: RTX 4080- en RX 7900 XTX-killer wordt tegengehouden door grimmige marktrealiteiten

Nvidia's op twee na beste Blackwell GPU van dit jaar, de RTX 5070 Ti, wordt niet geleverd in een Founders Edition-variant, maar er is wel een flink aantal partnerkaarten beschikbaar, waaronder de MSI GeForce RTX 5070 Ti Ventus 3X OC.

De RTX 5070 Ti heeft veel te bieden, zeker als u bedenkt dat het gewoon een verkleinde GB203 GPU is met dezelfde, zij het iets langzamere, 16 GB GDDR7 geheugeninterface. Vergeleken met de RTX 5080 FE verliest u ongeveer 10% prestaties met de RTX 5070 Ti - niet slecht gezien het prijsverschil van 25% bij MSRP.

Omdat het een Ventus kaart is, heeft de GeForce RTX 5070 Ti Ventus 3X OC geen toeters en bellen. De kaart is echter goed gebouwd en de SFF-afmetingen zullen velen aanspreken.

De RTX 5070 Ti Ventus 3X OC slaagt erin om de RTX 4080 Founders Edition voor te blijven in synthetische benchmarks, wat te verwachten is gezien de generatieverbeteringen. De verbetering ten opzichte van de RTX 4070 Ti is ook behoorlijk significant.

Gaming ziet de kloof tussen de RTX 5070 Ti en de RTX 4080 groter worden op het gebied van pure rasterprestaties, terwijl hij een haartje sneller is dan de Radeon RX 7900 XTX, het huidige vlaggenschip uit de AMD-stallen.

Met ray tracing ingeschakeld, wijkt de RX 7900 XTX verder af van de RTX 5070 Ti. Kortom, als u een 1440p gamer bent, is de RTX 5070 Ti een no brainer. 4K-gamers zouden het ook prima doen, met een gemiddelde winst van 20% ten opzichte van de RTX 4070 Ti. Met wat hulp bij het upscalen kan de RTX 5070 Ti nog meer frames leveren bij 4K.

De grootste troef van de RTX 5070 Ti is de ondersteuning voor de nieuwste Nvidia-technologieën zoals DLSS 4 multi-frame generatie. Hoe gimmicky het ook lijkt, het geeft de RTX 5070 Ti wel een voordeel in ondersteunde titels, waardoor hij beter presteert dan de RTX 4090's native rendering.

De MSI GeForce RTX 5070 Ti Ventus 3X OC heeft veel te bieden. U zult echter ook te maken krijgen met het gebrek aan extra TGP headroom, VBIOS switching en natuurlijk RGB.

Het koelsysteem van MSI voor de Ventus lijkt vrij alledaags, maar het houdt de thermiek goed onder controle zonder al te veel problemen met throttling. Wat echter wel zorgwekkend is, zijn de hoge geluidsemissies van de ventilator onder belasting.

De MSI GeForce RTX 5070 Ti Ventus 3X OC is zeker het overwegen waard als u op zoek bent naar de nieuwste kaart van Nvidia. Er is op dit moment geen levensvatbaar alternatief in dit segment, maar deze kaart is alleen lucratief als u er een kunt krijgen tegen de door Nvidia voorgeschreven $749 WRP of tegen de prijs van $830 van MSI, ongeacht de beschikbaarheid uit voorraad.

Alles wat hoger is - dat zullen ze zeker zijn - en de waardepropositie daalt aanzienlijk. Er zijn allerlei RTX 5070 Ti opties die tegen belachelijk hoge prijzen worden verkocht zonder echt voordeel. Wij stellen voor om af te wachten wat AMD in petto heeft met de Radeon RX 9000-serie die begin maart verschijnt, voordat u de sprong waagt.

Er is wat verwarring over de prijs van de MSI GeForce RTX 5070 Ti 16G Ventus 3X OC. Volgens Nvidia zou deze kaart de $749 MSRP moeten krijgen, maar op staat de kaart op MSI's website voor $829,99.

In India is de RTX 5070 Ti Ventus 3X OC officieel geprijsd voor ₹82.000 inclusief belastingen en wordt geleverd met drie jaar garantie. Verwacht echter enkele prijsverhogingen bij aankoop bij lokale retailers.

Nu is de derde Blackwell GPU van Nvidia aan de beurt, de GeForce RTX 5070 Ti. In tegenstelling tot de RTX 5080 en de RTX 5090komt de RTX 5070 Ti niet in een Founders Edition-variant.

De add-in board (AiB)-partners van Nvidia hebben echter verschillende RTX 5070 Ti-varianten in de aanbieding, variërend van MSRP tot aangepaste prijzen.

De RTX 5070 Ti is gemaakt van dezelfde GB203 matrijs als de RTX 5080, maar met bijna 17% minder (8.960) CUDA cores. Aan de andere kant biedt de RTX 5070 Ti 6% meer CUDA cores dan de RTX 4070 Ti Super.

Het gebruik van de GB203 GPU betekent dat de RTX 5070 Ti hetzelfde 16 GB GDDR7 geheugensubsysteem deelt als de RTX 5080, hoewel het op een langzamere 896 GB/s bandbreedte werkt.

De MSI GeForce RTX 5070 Ti Ventus 3X OC meet 303 x 121 x 49 mm en weegt een draagbare 1,07 kg, waardoor het een kaart met 2 sleuven is die in veel SFF-constructies (Small Form Factor) past.

De plastic voorkant voelt stevig aan, en de metalen achterplaat biedt een grote uitsparing voor effectieve warmteafvoer.

De RTX 5070 Ti Ventus 3X OC is volledig vrij van RGB-bling. Zelfs de "GeForce RTX" en "MSI" logo's op de bovenkant van de kaart zijn gewoon geschilderde letters.

De aansluitmogelijkheden omvatten 3x DisplayPort 2.1b-uitgangen en 1x HDMI 2.1b-uitgang. Een 12VHWPR-connector levert de benodigde voeding. Een 12VHPWR naar 2x 8-pins adapter wordt meegeleverd voor gebruik met niet-ATX 3.x PSU's.

Er is ook geen VBIOS-schakelaar om de prestatiemodi on-the-fly te schakelen, dus u zult moeten vertrouwen op MSI Center of MSI Afterburner voor enige vorm van GPU-tuning.

De accessoires in de doos zijn minimaal - u krijgt alleen een GPU-steun, een 12VHPWR naar 2x 8-pins adapter en de snelstartgids.

De RTX 5070 Ti Ventus 3X OC kan een boost geven tot 2.482 MHz, wat 30 MHz hoger is dan de officiële 2.452 MHz van Nvidia voor de RTX 5070 Ti.

Dit kan nog verder worden verhoogd tot 2.497 MHz door de Extreme Performance-modus in MSI Center in te schakelen.

Helaas zijn de vermogenslimieten afgetopt op 100% zonder mogelijkheid tot verhoging.

De MSI GeForce RTX 5070 Ti Ventus 3X OC is 5% sneller dan de RTX 4080 Stichterseditie in cumulatieve 3DMark en Unigine tests, maar blijft achter bij de Radeon RX 7900 XTX met dezelfde afstand.

De RTX 5070 Ti Ventus 3X OC is ook een goede 26% sneller vergeleken met de Aorus GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Master. Ter vergelijking: de RTX 4070 Ti was destijds bij de lancering $50 duurder.

Voor een vermindering van 17% in CUDA cores is de RTX 5070 Ti in synthetische benchmarks in totaal 11% langzamer dan de RTX 5080 Founders Edition.

DLSS 4 genereren van meerdere frames

Terwijl alle RTX GPU's die teruggaan tot de Turing-generatie DLSS 4 ondersteunen, kunnen alleen de RTX 50 Blackwell GPU's multi-frame generatie (MFG).

MFG stuwt de RTX 5070 Ti ver voor de RTX 4090 uit in ondersteunde games. Terwijl de RTX 4090 bijvoorbeeld bijna 90 fps haalt in Star Wars Outlaws bij 4K met ultra ray tracing en DLSS frame generatie en ray reconstructie ingeschakeld, haalt de RTX 5070 Ti Ventus 3X OC 114 fps bij dezelfde instellingen met 4x MFG.

Momenteel ondersteunt slechts een beperkt aantal titels MFG op RTX 50 GPU's. Niettemin biedt de Nvidia-app een manier om MFG te forceren in veel meer compatibele games.

Uitstoot: Goede thermiek, maar veel ventilatorgeluid onder belasting

De RTX 5070 Ti Ventus 3X OC heeft geen fancy koelinstallatie, maar de basis is in orde.

Volgens MSI is de RTX 5070 Ti Ventus 3X OC voorzien van een vernikkelde koperen basisplaat en vierkante heatpipes voor een effectieve warmteoverdracht van de GPU.

Stresstest

Bij belasting met FurMark (1.280x720, geen AA) haalt de RTX 5070 Ti Ventus 3X OC boosts van 2.715 MHz met een piekverbruik van 300 W en een gemiddelde kerntemperatuur van 69,2 °C.

In een meer realistische belasting zoals Cyberpunk 2077 op 1080p Ultra kan de RTX 5070 Ti Ventus 3X OC boosten tot 2.857 MHz met een veel lager stroomverbruik van 266 W en een gemiddelde kerntemperatuur van 65,5 °C.

Het koelsysteem lijkt goed te presteren, zoals blijkt uit de relatief stabiele framerates in Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty op zowel 1080p Ultra- als 4K Ultra-instellingen.

Oppervlaktetemperaturen

De oppervlaktetemperaturen zijn gemakkelijk beheersbaar, waarbij de voorste shroud relatief koel blijft en de achterplaat ruim onder de 45 °C blijft onder belasting bij een omgevingstemperatuur van 23 °C.

We hebben bijna 49 °C gemeten rond de 12VHPWR-connector, wat normaal is en eventuele zorgen over overmatige hitte zou moeten wegnemen.

Geluidsniveaus

De driedubbele Torx 5.0 ventilatoren van de RTX 5070 Ti Ventus 3X OC kunnen behoorlijk luid worden onder belasting

De drie Torx 5.0 ventilatoren van de RTX 5070 Ti Ventus 3X OC houden de GPU goed koel. De ventilatoren stoppen volledig wanneer de GPU inactief is in de standaard ventilatorcurve.

Onder belasting kunnen de ventilatoren echter behoorlijk luid worden. In FurMark registreerden we een maximaal geluidsdrukniveau (SPL) van 51,56 dB(A). De geluidsniveaus tijdens het gamen zijn met 43,22 dB(A) relatief lager.
