The tried-and-true design may look the same, but Nvidia's gaming chops are better than ever before (especially when DLSS 3 is supported in a given game), and battery life got a decent improvement, even if it still has room for more. Throw in extras—like the per-key lighting on the keyboard and niche features like Tobii headtracking—and you have a fantastic premium-level mobile PC gaming rig. We won't act as if this laptop isn't expensive (nearly $3,000), but it's a lot cheaper than the Asus ROG Strix Scar 18 and the ultra-pricey MSI Titan GT77 (2023). It's still not cheap, but it's a heck of a lot more affordable than the nearly $5,000 price that this level of performance has commanded recently. That's enough for the Lenovo Legion Pro 7i Gen 8 to replace the Acer Predator Triton 300 SE as our favorite 16-inch gaming laptop, earning it our Editors' Choice award.

Not only that, but the keyboard is a joy to type on, the touchpad is surprisingly satisfying to use given my experience with spongy gaming laptop pads in the past, and that 240Hz refresh rate on the screen is great for your eSports needs. Add to that the RTX 4070 performance paired with that speedy Intel Core i9 CPU, and the ton of I/O on here, and this is a solid package. That’s not to say there aren't some flaws: the webcam isn’t that great, and the fans whir up a storm. But at its core, this is both a performant laptop for work by day (with the refined aesthetic to boot), and a beasty gaming system by night.

In short, I will frankly miss the Lenovo Legion Pro 7i Gen 8. It gave me three weeks of real pleasure. It hasn’t been so pleasant to play and work on a laptop for a long time. The Lenovo Legion Pro 7i Gen 8 is a real beast among gaming laptops. Thanks to the built-in components, we can enjoy all current games at high settings. Visually, the restrained, simple design makes it comfortable, and the RGB backlighting is an absolute highlight – you feel like you have a real gaming station on your desktop. As expected, the test results are very good. We have a powerful set of processor, video card, interfaces and connectivity modules. Everything in the Lenovo Legion Pro 7i Gen 8 meets the requirements of the most demanding gamers. An already good package is complemented by a gorgeous bright display with a 240Hz refresh rate, Legion AI Engine+, and, of course, a solid price. Are there any significant disadvantages? Everyone will probably find their own.

Gekocht bij MEGEKKO. , helaas kreeg ik problemen met de software , (bestanden verdwenen etc) ook na her-installeren van Windows 11 weer problemen en vertrouwde ik het gewoon niet meer en was het zat. Het kan ook aan mij gelegen hebben maar ik kreeg het vermoeden dat de doos eerder geopend was, en door de vrijwel afwezige documentatie en nergens het licentienummer te vinden van windows 11 besloot ik hem nog net binnen de 30 dagen terug te brengen in de pop-up winkel in Breda. Wilde ter plaatse van de service medewerkers ook hun mening horen. Er scheen bij lenovo inderdaad heel weinig documentatie te zitten (bij het losse LG scherm zat 2 centimeter (hoeft ook weer niet). En Windows levert vaak ook geen sleutels meer (klote, want als de herinstallatie vast loopt vragen ze natuurlijk om die sleutel als hij hem niet meer van de schijf kan halen. Voelt niet goed gewoon. Waarom toch heel tevreden?

It’s not the easiest laptop to carry around, and that’s before you factor in the weight of the massive power brick weighing down your bag. The battery life is also par for the course for gaming laptops, which is to say it’s largely there to keep you going when you can’t find anywhere to plug in. Even with those downsides, the Legion Pro 7i remains a fantastic laptop overall, and while the above issues are worth mentioning, they don’t hold it back. The Lenovo Legion Pro 7 is a powerhouse of a laptop with excellent performance across the board. The RTX 4090 and Intel Core i9-14900HX is a potent combination, which gave us some of our best benchmark results to date and are able to consistently churn out top-tier performance. This paired with the 16-inch colour-accurate, QHD+ 16:10 ratio display makes it a top choice for both gamers and creators. Furthermore, you’ve got plenty of I/O options – with the potential of connecting three additional displays or even an external GPU thanks to the Thunderbolt 4 port. All in all, we’d say this gaming laptop packs all the punches. Earlier in the year we tested the Lenovo Legion 9i, which featured a 13th gen Intel Core i9-13980HX paired with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 GPU. Na opnieuw opstarten zat de bios update vast op 0% voor enkele uren. Uiteindelijk toch de aan/uit knop ingedrukt omdat hij op vol vermogen bleef blazen en daarna bios gebricked. Met de hand nog geprobeerd om de .exe bios naar rom naar .fd om te zetten en op USB stick te zetten. Dan via FN+R geprobeerd om een bios update uit te voeren, maar geen geluk.

Lenovo: Lenovo ("Le" uit de Engelse legende, novo (Latijn voor nieuw) werd in 1984 opgericht als Chinees handelsbedrijf in computers. In 2004 was het bedrijf de grootste laptopfabrikant in China en, na de overname van IBM's pc-divisie in 2005, de op drie na grootste ter wereld. Naast desktops en notebooks produceert het bedrijf monitoren, projectors, servers, enz. en is het gespecialiseerd in de ontwikkeling, productie en marketing van consumentenelektronica, pc's, software, bedrijfsoplossingen en aanverwante diensten.
In 2016 stond het bedrijf op de eerste plaats in de wereld wat betreft computerverkopen. Dit was in 2023 nog steeds het geval, met een wereldwijd marktaandeel van ongeveer 23%. Belangrijke productlijnen zijn Thinkpad, Legion en Ideapad.
In 2011 verwierf het een meerderheidsbelang in Medion AG, een Europese fabrikant van computerhardware. In 2014 werd Motorola Mobility gekocht, wat Lenovo een boost gaf op de smartphonemarkt.

i9-14900HX: High-end mobiele hybride processor gebaseerd op de Raptor Lake architectuur met 24 cores en 32 threads. Klokt op maximaal 5,8 GHz (P cores).
AMD Dragon Range (Zen 4, Ryzen 7045):
R9 7945HX: Hoogwaardige mobiele 16-core processor gebaseerd op de Zen 4-architectuur. De CPU-kernen klokken tot 5,4 GHz en voeren 32 threads tegelijk uit. De TDP is instelbaar tussen 55 en 75 Watt.
