De prijs voor de OnePlus 13 is ook zeer schappelijk te noemen. Natuurlijk, 999 euro is veel geld, maar vergeleken met de toptoestellen van andere merken zoals Apple en Samsung kost dit model haast net zoveel als het instapmodel. Hier zit ook nog eens 16 GB RAM en 256 GB geheugen bij. Er is echter ook een exemplaar met 16 GB RAM en 512 GB. Hiervoor betaal je 1.149 euro. OnePlus heeft echter ook nog een goedkopere optie met de 13R. Deze kost 749 euro, maar heeft van alles net wat minder. Zo zit er de langzamere Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 in en heeft het een mindere camera. Ben je echter niet zo’n fotograaf en hoef je niet de allersnelste chip, dan kan je het zeker overwegen.

Onderaan de streep doet de OnePlus 13 weinig fout. De dingen die we tijdens ons gebruik zijn tegengekomen, vinden we in elk geval geen dealbreakers. We weten dat OxygenOS al lang geen OxygenOS meer is en steeds meer richting Oppo's ColorOS kruipt. Daarnaast zijn de camerakwaliteiten nooit de reden geweest om voor OnePlus te kiezen. Dat betekent niet dat je geen mooie shots maakt met dit toestel, maar met andere premium smartphones heb je wellicht een betere ervaring. Het enige dat in de weg zit, is die minimale prijs van 999 euro. Ook hier plaatsen we de kanttekening dat OnePlus op dit vlak veranderd is. Het merk is allang geen prijsvechter meer. Inmiddels is het basismodel vergelijkbaar geprijsd met concurrerende smartphones, waardoor er in feite een goede reden wegvalt om voor dit toestel te kiezen.

OnePlus 13 is een van de beste Android-toestellen die je op dit moment kunt kopen. Dat het toestel ook nog net onder de 1000 euro duikt, is erg positief, al zijn we minder te spreken over het missen van ingebouwde Qi2-technologie. Er is op fotografiegebied enorm veel plezier te halen uit deze telefoon en de software die je foto’s een heel professionele look kunnen geven, maar tegelijkertijd lijkt macro en de twee keer zoom iets waar OnePlus nog aandacht aan mag besteden, net als aan zijn eigenheid. Dit zijn echter kleine smetjes op een telefoon die verder enorm snel is, lekker in de hand ligt en met een batterij en oplaadsnelheid komt waarvan we hopen dat die voor andere vlaggenschepen die dit jaar uitkomen (of deze maand nog…) als voorbeeld zal gelden.

Smartphones begonnen afgelopen jaar een beetje saai te worden. Het was allemaal steeds iets beter en de camera’s waren doorgaans gewoon goed. Zo goed dat het gros van de foto’s en video’s op GadgetGear afgelopen jaar al afkomstig waren van de OnePlus Open en OnePlus 12. Dit jaar zal de 13 hun plek innemen, want de camera’s zijn zoveel beter geworden. Met name de nieuwe AI functies laten zien dat het ook voor de traditionele camera-industrie lastiger wordt om nog te concurreren voor het schieten van een gewoon goed plaatje. Bloedsnel is het toestel en de AI functies werken best aardig. Ik geef toe dat AI ook nu vooral nog als een gimmick aanvoelt in mijn dagelijkse praktijk, maar ik zie wel dat OxygenOS steeds handiger wordt in het aanbieden van AI ondersteuning op de juiste plekken. In OxygenOS 14 was het soms net even wat te veel zoekwerk om AI functies te vinden en te gebruiken. Met andere woorden, enorm veel verbeteringen. OnePlus legt aan het begin van het jaar de lat superhoog. Voor iedereen.

I do have a handful of complaints about this phone and they will sound familiar, so I’ll make it quick. There are still software quirks or decisions that OnePlus made that I don’t love, which I talked about earlier. The phone is quite large, so if you don’t love massive phones, this one will be a struggle at times, especially for one-handed users. OnePlus still doesn’t send out updates as frequently as we’d like, although they were pretty quick with Android 15. While pricing at $899 is good, availability is direct-only, as there are no carrier partners working with OnePlus any longer. And that’s really it. OnePlus made a great phone in the OnePlus 13 that has a big, beautiful display, performs flawlessly, has improved software, should last for more than a day on a single charge, and is equipped with a camera that can truly hang. Put this phone on your short list – you might just love it.

I could drone on about other bits and pieces on the OnePlus 13 for hours more but I feel that I would lose your interest as this has been quite long enough already (kudos for making it this far). However, I am not going to drag this out any more than is needed. Simply put although this is one of the 1st major brand launches of the year with the new Snapdragon Chipset onboard it is in my opinion one of the best phones currently available to the wider global market. I would be very happy to continue to use this phone daily and if I wasn’t so hooked on foldable phones I would certainly being doing so. While I fully expect the next phone series from Samsung to be up with the OnePlus 13 in terms of specs I also expect it to be way more expensive.

The device’s luminance was well-suited in indoor and outdoor situations despite an unnatural tone rendering under sunlight (with the High Brightness Mode activated). The relatively strong reflections impacted outdoor performances, adding a color cast when viewing content. Reading comfort was enhanced thanks to the screen’s lack of flicker. Using faithful mode, color rendering was accurate overall, but colors visibly shifted when the screen was held at a 25° angle. The device’s weakest performance was in HDR and SDR video rendering in low-light conditions because of poor brightness, contrast, and color results. However, in indoor lighting conditions, the device rendered HDR videos with adequate luminance and contrast, providing a generally good experience. If you don't need the latest power and don't mind the curved screen, there's an argument to be made for opting for last year's OnePlus 12 instead – the phone has aged well – however, if you're happy with the asking price, the OnePlus 13 is a very good phone with excellent battery life and top-tier performance.

It would take a really good camera system to knock the Pixel 9 Pro off the top spot as my first choice camera phone, and the OnePlus 13 comes agonizingly close, with all three of its cameras offering great images – although a few white balance mistakes and a shorter telephoto just take it away from perfection. Photos are detailed, with great results from each of the three different cameras. The colors are accurate and nicely saturated. The white balance, on the whole, is accurate, although it can veer slightly warmer, however, consistency has been a minor issue with some quirks in white balance and processing as you switch between cameras.And when it comes to hardware, I wish OnePlus had chosen to go further than a 3x optical zoom camera, I am a big zoom fan, and this doesn’t quite do it for me – I would really hope for at least a 5x optical zoom.

Things are looking up for OnePlus 13, which is once again positioning itself as the hidden ultimate-value gem in the Android space, a phone with exceptional hardware, great software, but sadly, the lack of a more widespread brand recognition in the US and therefore trailing behind the Galaxies and iPhones. This definitely prevents the OnePlus 13 from ever beating the iPhones and Galaxies in the US, which is by now a popularity contest. And looking past the brand name, the OnePlus 13 has it all: modern design in a compact body, top-notch performance (especially in gaming), good battery life, superfast charging, and a lovely screen. However, there are some flies in the ointment. It feels like the battery life should be better, and the camera system isn't that good and leaves a lot to be desired in terms of image quality.

It’s big, powerful, and ready to keep you productive, thanks to its built-in S Pen. That same stylus means that Samsung’s top-end traditional flagship won’t work with any magnetic case, so you’ll have to make do with more traditional charging options. More importantly, the Galaxy S24 Ultra is one flagship that can give OnePlus’s improved camera zoom a run for its money thanks to 100x Space Zoom from its dual-telephoto setup. Just remember that we expect the next Galaxy S25 Ultra to be right around the corner and offer upgraded specs similar to the OnePlus 13.

In the end, the OnePlus 13 is a solid phone. It’s really powerful, can go for ages on a full charge, refills quickly, has a brilliant display and versatile camera system. It’s all the things you’d want a OnePlus phone to be. Does it move the needle much beyond what the OnePlus 12 offers? In some ways – specifically around performance and battery life. But, there’s an argument to be made here that not many people will feel the benefit of that extra power, because you need to push it really hard to make the most of all that extra ‘oomph’. Still, if you want a fast, long-lasting, versatile flagship phone alternative to Google and Samsung’s, it’s a great choice. I’ve been using the OnePlus 13 as my primary phone for about a month now, and it has been fantastic. I love the photos it takes, the speed and smoothness of the software, the striking design, the Midnight Ocean color, and how comfortable it is to hold. It’s the little things that make it so good to own, such as the vastly improved fingerprint sensor, tactile haptics, the Alert Slider’s helpfulness, and the incredible efficiency that leads to long battery life. The screen is overly sensitive, though, and I’d like the notifications to be more reliable, but these are small issues that don’t dramatically detract from the rest of the phone. The OnePlus 13 is right up there with the Google Pixel 9 Pro as being an unequivocal recommendation, and Samsung really needs to deliver with the Galaxy S25 to come close to meeting the bar set by it.

Don't get us wrong though - it remains a solid picture-taking device, with somewhat of a standout ultrawide. We'd have liked to see a closer-focusing telephoto - you'll need to look elsewhere for one of those. OP is also staying away from the display brightness race - but that's more of a blemish in the tests page than a real issue with the 13. The 13 is, in fact, quite great on the fundamentals, offering some of the longest battery life in the class, together with speedy top-ups. No longer trailing in dust and water resistance, it's now as well-sealed as the rest, and it's even a step ahead in the build department thanks to its magnetic accessories capability.

Qualcomm Adreno 830: Geïntegreerde grafische eenheid in de Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC voor smartphones met drie schijfjes van elk 1,1 GHz. Geïntegreerde 12 MB gedeelde cache voor de drie schijfjes. Volgens Qualcomm 40% sneller dan de vorige generatie (Adreno 750).

Deze grafische kaarten zouden alle huidige spellen moeten kunnen draaien, maar de meeste spellen zullen alleen met gemiddelde of lage detail instellingen en lage resoluties goed werken. Oudere of minder veeleisende spellen kunnen nog wel met goede grafische instellingen gespeeld worden.
