Honor Holly review – one of the new leaders of the low price range

We started this review thinking that we’re testing one of the best models from the low range and we’re finishing it with the same thought. None of the components of Honor Holly will show you something extraordinary, but at the same time each and every one of them will deliver exactly what you want to see from such an affordable device. Of course, the smartphone is so lucrative mainly because of its price, but it’s hard to find a phone with similar capabilities from this price range today. We have to mention the higher temperature near the camera area after heavy loads as a downside. We will let you decide whether this issue can be ignored or not.

Overall the Honor Holly was a pretty good phone, there isn’t anything massively wrong with the phone, especially for the price of £89. At that price it is firmly in the Moto G and low end Lumia market and I feel it competes admirably. Yes the inclusion of a better display and 4G would have basically made a reasonable phone into something really rather good, it would have also bumped the price up to “the wrong side of £100”.

For £110 and potentially even less, the Holly represents great value for money and there are very few phones that can match its spec sheet. Just as Motorola has proven, budget phones no longer have to make such drastic compromises as they used to. The screen quality puts more expensive mid-range phones to shame and there's nothing budget about the camera or battery performance.

The Honor Holly may have a clever pricing model, at least for the first four days after launch, but this is the only interesting thing about it. Outside of this the Honor Holly is a bog-standard smartphone that features a slightly dull design and offers average performance. That said, considering its price the Honor Holly does have some perks. Chief of these are a reasonable battery life and a good-for-the-money screen.

We don’t know what the final price of the Honor Holly will be just yet, but even at £110, this smartphone represents excellent value, despite the mixed picture on battery life. It has a decent screen, performance is more than adequate, and the camera is much better than most in the budget smartphone sector. If 4G isn’t important to you, you’d be well advised to haul yourself over to the Huawei website and get registered.

We can say that we were pleasantly surprised by the device with its elegant design, thin body and glass back, as well as its capabilities. Speaking of capabilities, we are not only talking hardware here. Yes, there is an octa-core Kirin 925 processor which showed great results in our tests, but when it comes to software, we’re sure that you’ll find a lot functionality to play with. The rich settings menu, the useful pre-installed apps and the overall appearance of the interface very quickly made us forget about the Android 4.4.2 KitKat OS. As we expected, the 3600 mAh battery offered great durability. And, of course, we can’t forget the dual camera that offers highly detailed photos and some very interesting modes. We were also charmed by the display, which not only provided high resolution, brightness and contrast, but also won’t cause eye-fatigue because it doesn’t emit pulse-width modulation, and bloats with 100% sRGB coverage.

Overall for the price the Honor 6+ is a cracking phone, with a few caveats though, all falling under the “you get what you pay for” moniker. The short version is this, the hardware is good, the build and design is good, the camera is amazing and the software is a little lacking. As I mentioned earlier Honor really need to makeup for the lack of Lollipop and the huge upcoming awkward situation regarding Android M, they need to push Lollipop out sharpish and vow to never release a phone with out of date software ever again.

The phone offers good performance and the best Android camera that you can find today. We hebben de laatste tijd niet bijzonder veel 8-inch-tablets getest die in dezelfde prijsklasse zitten als de Honor T1. De enige die in de buurt komt, is de ASUS Memo Pad 8, die eveneens een 1280x800-resolutie heeft. Die is over het algemeen een tikje krachtiger, heeft een vergelijkbare accuduur, maar is gemiddeld wat duurder en heeft geen aluminium behuizing. Dat apparaat heeft een vanafprijs van 149 euro, voor minder kun je de Honor T1 ook niet kopen. Kun je hem voor die prijs op de kop tikken, dan is dat wat ons betreft een net iets betere koop. Op basis van de gemiddelde prijs, slaat de balans door naar de Honor T1.

In fact, it was considered one of the best smartphones introduced at the popular tech show along with the likes of the Huawei Mate 9, Blackberry Mercury, Nokia 6 and the Asus Zenfone AR. The Huawei Honor Magic is already available in China and will be made available in U.S. and other parts of the world but there's no word yet as to when exactly that will be.

Deze grafische kaarten voor notebooks zijn niet bruikbaar voor games. Als ze al games kunnen draaien, dan doen ze dat met grafische afwijkingen en heel lage framesnelheid. Voor gamers zijn deze chips ongeschikt! Kantoor en internet taken zijn, daarentegen, geen probleem voor deze GPUs.

Alleen oudere games kunnen vloeiend draaien met deze grafische chips (als ze niet veeleisend zijn). Gedeeld geheugen grafische cores in deze categorie hebben het voordeel van minder warmte-ontwikkeling en langere batterijlooptijd. Voor kantoor, internet, beeldcorrectie- en videomonteringswerk zijn deze grafische chips nog steeds bruikbaar zonder enige beperkingen.
