Ik heb goede prestaties nodig en gebruik hem zakelijk dus wilde geen game-laptop met lampjes en drukke designs. Dit is echt top, netjes maar ook stijlvol!

Still, the chassis of the laptop gets warm, as the thin profile and the aluminum housing don’t isolate the heat well enough. The large size and weight may discourage people from using this device as a hybrid working laptop, although I’d recommend that anyone who needs a powerful device for content creation or productivity consider the HP Envy 16-inch.

If you want a stronger gaming laptop, the Asus ROG Strix Scar 17 has a slight edge on the Envy 16. If you don’t play games at all, the Envy 16 shines in all other performance aspects, making it the perfect companion for professional or personal use. If you’re watching anything on YouTube or Netflix, you can expect bright, vivid colors that enhance the whole experience. There isn’t anything about the Envy 16’s look that’s outright objectionable, but the sum total feels a bit disappointing given the price. The chassis is heavy, the low-contrast keyboard is annoying, and the overall plain silver look is a bit boring. Plus, the drop-jaw USB-A port is a pointless inclusion. While we applaud HP’s wide-ranging configuration options for the Envy 16, we’d still steer creative pros to one of our two favorite content-creation laptops, the Dell XPS 17 or the Asus VivoBook Pro 16X OLED.

Commentaar

HP: Het Amerikaanse bedrijf werd opgericht in 1939 en is een belangrijke server- en printerfabrikant en een van de toonaangevende IT-bedrijven ter wereld. Tot 2015 heette het bedrijf Hewlett-Packard Company. Na een splitsing werd de computerdivisie omgedoopt tot HP Inc.

In 2023 had HP een geschat marktaandeel van 22% van de wereldwijde pc-verkoop, waarmee het nummer 2 werd na Lenovo.

Deze middenklasse grafische kaarten kunnen alle huidige spellen vloeiend spelen. Veeleisende spellen kunnen alleen met gemiddelde detail instellingen gespeeld worden.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Laptop GPU:

Deze grafische kaarten zouden de meeste moderne spellen op een hoge resolutie en hoge details moeten kunnen draaien (enkele uitzonderingen zijn mogelijk).

NVIDIA NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 Laptop GPU: High-end grafische kaart voor laptops gebaseerd op de Ada Lovelace-architectuur. Biedt 8 GB GDDR6 (128 Bit) en is configureerbaar met een TGP van 35 - 115 W (+ Dynamic Boost).

Deze grafische kaarten zouden alle huidige spellen moeten kunnen draaien, maar de meeste spellen zullen alleen met gemiddelde of lage detail instellingen en lage resoluties goed werken. Oudere of minder veeleisende spellen kunnen nog wel met goede grafische instellingen gespeeld worden.

AMD Radeon 780M:

Geïntegreerde grafische kaart in de Ryzen 7040 mobiele serie APU's gebaseerd op de RDNA3-architectuur met 12 CU's (= 768 shaders) en een kloksnelheid tot 3 GHz.

Intel Alder Lake-S:

i7-12700H:

Een op Alder-Lake gebaseerde mobiele processor met 6 prestatiekernen en 8 efficiënte kernen. De prestatiekernen bieden hyper-threading, waardoor 20 threads kunnen worden verwerkt. De processor werkt op frequenties van 1,7 tot 4,7 GHz en ondersteunt vPro.

Intel Alder Lake-P:

i9-12900H:

Een op Alder-Lake gebaseerde mobiele processor met 6 prestatiekernen en 8 efficiënte kernen. De prestatiekernen bieden hyper-threading, waardoor 20 threads kunnen worden verwerkt. De processor werkt op frequenties van 1,8 tot 5 GHz en ondersteunt vPro.

Intel Raptor Lake-H:

i9-13900H: Op Alder Lake gebaseerde mobiele CPU met 6 prestatie-kernen en 8 efficiënte kernen. De prestatie-kernen bieden hyper-threading, wat leidt tot 20 threads die verwerkt kunnen worden. De CPU klokt tot 5,4 GHz. Vergeleken met de i9-13900HK wordt er geen eenvoudige overklokfunctie ondersteund, maar wel een volledige vPro-beheerfunctieset.

AMD Hawk Point (Zen 4/4c, Ryzen 8040):

R7 8840HS: Een high-end processor uit de Hawk Point-familie die in Q4 2023 werd onthuld. De 8840HS is eigenlijk geen nieuwe chip, maar is vergelijkbaar met de Ryzen 7 7840U, maar met een 5 W hogere minimale TDP en een hoger geklokte Ryzen AI-engine. De 8840HS heeft 8 kernen met SMT-ondersteuning (16 threads) die draaien op 3,3 GHz tot 5,1 GHz. Deze kernen met Zen 4-architectuur zijn gekoppeld aan de Radeon 780M geïntegreerde grafische adapter.
