Iets meer dan zes maanden geleden schreef ik de laatste woorden van de review van de Poco X3. In de reviewperiode had ik eigenlijk een verrassend positieve ervaring doorgemaakt, hoewel Poco nog wel wat werk te doen had aan de MIUI-schil op de X3 NFC. Ook was te merken dat de chipset op de X3 NFC niet de snelste chipset ooit was, maar in de meeste gevallen was het wel goed te doen. Met de Poco X3 Pro heeft Xiaomi de ervaring op vrijwel alle vlakken verbeterd. Op twee vlakken weet de X3 Pro gelijk te presteren – op de batterijduur en de prestaties van de vingerafdrukscanner – maar dat kan niet gezien worden als minpunt.

De Poco X3 Pro biedt een indrukwekkende prijs-kwaliteitsverhouding en hoort zonder twijfel bij de beste smartphones onder de 300 euro. De telefoon combineert een mooi scherm en krachtige hardware met een lange accuduur en krijgt twee jaar updates. Aandachtspunten zijn de ingrijpende MIUI-software en het formaat en het gewicht van de smartphone. Als die je niet uitmaken, haal je voor 249 euro een uitstekende smartphone in huis. Het model met meer werk- en opslaggeheugen is vijftig euro duurder en vooral interessant als je écht veel opslagruimte nodig hebt.

It is, overall, a good mid-range package, elevated to new heights by its standout performance. Not a one-trick pony per se, more like a pony with many decent tricks and one that's quite unexpected given its price. Hopefully that makes sense in pony-land; we confess we don't really know a lot about ponies. So if you need the most performance that you can get for a price around what the X3 Pro sells for, this is the one to get for sure. But if you value other things slightly more, then it simply can't deliver features that stand out as much as its speed. But that's the point, a cheap phone can't be all things to all people. For those who agree with what it has to offer, it's a great device that will not disappoint.

But if power is all you’re hungry for, there’s enough for you to chew on here.

POCO definitely strikes again, and our review of the X3 Pro in the Philippines shows that it is hard to question its raw processor performance at an under-Php 13k price point. Despite looking very similar to the vanilla X3 and having a slightly downgraded rear camera setup, the Snapdragon 860’s performance chops—paired with UFS 3.1 storage—make it an ideal phone for serious gaming. As much I'm delighted to see a high-end processor at this price point, I can't help but notice that the rest of the phone doesn't match. It’s like you spent so much money on acquiring a Ferrari engine, the only base you can now afford for your project car is a Maruti Omni.

Picking an older chipset also means you lose 5G support for when it arrives in India. However, for those not concerned with future-proofing their phone for years to come, you get a great deal with solid hardware components here, making this phone an easy recommendation.

De meeste niet-veeleisende huidige games kunnen vloeiend draaien. Wees voorbereid op verminderde grafische weergave door lage detailinstellingen en lage resoluties. Toch verschaffen deze kaarten voldoende prestatie voor kantoor taken en video bekijken (niet voor HD videos).
