Als we de Sony Xperia 10 V naast de 10 IV zouden leggen, dan heeft Sony een hoop dingen verbeterd. De speakers klinken luider, het scherm kan helderder ingesteld worden, het camerasysteem scoort ook net even beter (en beschikt als één van de weinige smartphones in dit segment over een telelens) en de accu scoort even goed. Echter, de processor is inmiddels echt oud te noemen (hij komt uit 2021), de schermverversing loopt achter op de concurrentie en ook het design spreekt niet iedereen aan. Bovendien zal niet iedereen het fijn vinden dat je geen video’s in 4k kunt opnemen en dat het opladen zo traag gaat. Daar tegenover staat dan weer een prettige Android-softwareomgeving, maar helaas ook een karig updatebeleid, waardoor je maximaal drie jaar met je smartphone kunt doen. Dit zijn van die momenten dat je denkt dat een fabrikant beter een jaar had kunnen overslaan, want de genoemde verbeteringen zijn niet echt doorslaggevend voor een aanbeveling.

Het is een lang, dun toestel, al heeft die ranke look wel als nadeel dat je er wat moeilijker op kunt tikken. Het scherm ziet er goed uit, maar daarentegen is het allemaal wel wat ingedimd. In een wereld waarin we gewend zijn aan enorm overgesatureerde foto's en schermen met heel veel kleur, is dit een heel rustig toestel. That is not my personal opinion, but the result of a quick look at the competition. The triple camera left much to be desired with its tiny sensors, both during the day and at night. The limited video resolution of 1080p is also a relic from older times. The phone looks just as antiquated in terms of quick-charging as well as the display, which has a maximum refresh rate of 60 Hz.

Geïntegreerde grafische kaart (in de Snapdragon 750G) gebaseerd op de Adreno 600 architectuur. De prestaties zijn veel beter dan de oude Adreno 612.
Alleen oudere games kunnen vloeiend draaien met deze grafische chips (als ze niet veeleisend zijn). Gedeeld geheugen grafische cores in deze categorie hebben het voordeel van minder warmte-ontwikkeling en langere batterijlooptijd. Voor kantoor, internet, beeldcorrectie- en videomonteringswerk zijn deze grafische chips nog steeds bruikbaar zonder enige beperkingen.
