Voor een midrange-toestel heeft de Galaxy A5 vrij veel functies die ik persoonlijk graag zou terugzien in meer smartphones: stof- en waterbestendigheid, een moderne behuizing van glas en metaal, een uitbreidbaar geheugen en een geweldige batterijduur. Alleen bij het uitvoeren van zware taken merk je dat de Galaxy A5 niet dezelfde kracht heeft als de Galaxy S7, maar dat is voor zijn prijs ook niet verwonderlijk. De Galaxy A5 is een stuk goedkoper dan de topmodellen van Samsung, maar is met een adviesprijs van 429 euro alsnog best aan de dure kant voor een midrange toestel. Toch is de Galaxy A5 zeker de moeite waard voor iedereen die op zoek is naar een goedkoper alternatief voor de nieuwste en duurste Android-smartphones.

De Samsung Galaxy A5 2017 is een telefoon die zeer weinig minpunten heeft. Het toestel is snel, heeft een goede voorcamera en een erg mooi ontwerp en scherm. Een van de meest unieke functies van de derde generatie Galaxy A5 is naar mijn mening dat hij waterdicht is. Dit zie je eigenlijk niet veel vaker terug in telefoons, al komen er nu wel steeds meer toestellen die waterdicht zijn. Vooral omdat dit ‘slechts’ een toestel is in het middensegment is het een erg goede toevoeging dat hij waterdicht is.

De Galaxy A5 2017 lijkt alles in zich te hebben om dit te evenaren en we kijken dus uit naar de nieuwe testresultaten uit ons lab. In theorie is de Galaxy A5 2017 een verstandig alternatief voor de Galaxy S7. Niet iedereen heeft behoefte aan het energievretende topscherm of de geheugenverslindende mogelijkheden voor 4K-video die de S7 (bekijk de eerste indruk of de testresultaten van de S7) wel biedt.

The smartphone impressed us in the first place with its design which closely resembles that of the flagship Galaxy S lineup. However, the other features are also at the desired high level. A Super AMOLED Full HD display is available and it includes a number of useful modes and features. In fact, Galaxy A5 (2017) is packed with a lot of useful software features so you can often use them. The battery life is also impressive with a capacity of 3000mAh but it definitely performed amazingly in our endurance tests.
