De Nvidia GeForce MX330 en de Nvidia GeForce MX350 bieden verbeterde 3D-prestaties voor het goedkopere segment. Zelfs zeer compacte apparaten profiteren van deze vooruitgang, omdat de energiezuinige componenten geen complexe koelconstructies vereisen.
Kijkend naar de specificaties wordt het echter al snel duidelijk dat de zogenaamd nieuwe GPU's geen compleet nieuwe ontwikkeling zijn. Beide GeForce-modellen zijn nog steeds gebaseerd op de Pascal-architectuur, die al een paar jaar bestaat. In wezen is de Nvidia GeForce MX330 een Nvidia GeForce MX250. Dit kunnen we ook bevestigen op basis van prestaties. Met de Nvidia GeForce MX350 moest de fabrikant een iets andere weg inslaan; daarom was de enige logische stap om de volgende snellere GPU te baseren op de Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 (laptop) en deze drastisch uit te kleden. Zowel de geheugeninterface als het maximale energieverbruik zijn aangepast, wat ook van invloed is op de prestaties. Desalniettemin is de Nvidia GeForce MX350 tot 30% sneller dan een Nvidia GeForce MX330.
Compacte apparaten profiteren van de prestatieverbetering van de nieuwe GeForce-modellen. Helaas wordt de modernere Turing-architectuur niet gebruikt.
Vergeet niet bij het nemen van een aankoopbeslissing dat de hier geteste modellen pure instap-GPU’s zijn. Voor puur gamen worden beide grafische kaarten niet aanbevolen voor moderne games. Beide GPU’s zijn daarentegen krachtig genoeg voor oudere games, waarbij ze aangename framesnelheden op Full-HD resolutie kunnen produceren.
