Met de GeForce GTX 1070 Ti overbrugt Nvidia de kloof tussen de GTX 1070 en de GTX 1080 en biedt de fabrikant een alternatief voor de momenteel onverkrijgbare Vega 56. Wat efficiëntie betreft ligt de GTX 1070 Ti dichter bij de GTX 1080 dan bij de GTX 1070. Aangezien kaarten van 'third-party'-fabrikanten alleen softwarematig of manueel overklokt kunnen worden, moet de Founders Edition niet onderdoen wat prestaties betreft. Toch zijn de kaarten van Nvidia's partners wat efficiënter en minder luidruchtig. De aanbevolen winkelprijs (MSRP) van 469 euro (~$549) in Duitsland kan toegeschreven worden aan de hoge prijzen van de Vega 56-GPU's die ver boven hun MSRP verkocht worden (door de mining-gekte).

Al bij al is de GeForce GTX 1070 Ti Founders Edition een geslaagde desktop-GPU die vooral geschikt is voor gaming in 1440p.
