AMD heeft met zijn Ryzen 3000-familie veel druk gezet op Intel. De fabrikant heeft veel goede keuzes gemaakt en wakkert de concurrentie in de markt van de desktop-CPU's stevig aan, wat veel mensen als muziek in de oren zal klinken. De Ryzen 7 3700X wordt verkocht voor 349 euro, een prijs die hem tegenover de Core i7-9700K positioneert. De Zen 2-chip biedt niet alleen uitstekende multi-core-prestaties, maar blinkt ook uit in single-core-taken, waarbij hij slechts 4 punten minder scoort dan de Core i7-9700K in CB R15 Single 64Bit. De Ryzen 3700X biedt eveneens ondersteuning voor PCIe 4.0, dat in combinatie met de nieuwe Navi-GPU's voor geweldige resultaten zorgt, al is dit alleen mogelijk met de nieuwe en dure X570-moederborden. De Ryzen 7 3700X en zijn Zen 2-broertjes werken ook op oudere moederborden, maar je zal in dat geval de snelheidsverbeteringen van PCIe 4.0 moeten laten vallen. Een X570-moederbord is momenteel de enige manier om te verzekeren dat de Ryzen 7 3700X future-proof blijft.
De AMD Ryzen 7 3700X biedt veel waar voor je geld en zet uitstekende prestaties neer. Zen 2 blijft bij sommige single-core-taken achter Intel, maar AMD heeft prachtig werkt geleverd om deze afstand tot Intel te minimaliseren.
De Ryzen 7 3700X biedt zonder enige twijfel betere multi-core-prestaties dan alle moderne Intel-chips, waaronder zelfs de Core i9-9900K. Als je overweegt om een Zen 2-CPU te kopen, is het de moeite waard om ook eens naar de Ryzen 9 3900X en Ryzen 9 3950X te kijken. Deze processors hebben respectievelijk 12 en 16 cores en bieden nog hogere multi-core-prestaties, wat hen beter geschikt maakt voor gamers, streamers en content creators dan de Ryzen 7 3700X.
Al bij al blijven vergelijkbare Intel-CPU's net iets sneller dan de Ryzen 7 3700X op het vlak van single-core-prestaties, ondanks het feit dat AMD deze afstand bijna volledig heeft dichtgereden met Zen 2. Onze test-CPU maakte echter indruk in games en wist tegelijk zijn energieverbruik binnen de perken te houden. Kortom, AMD heeft grote stappen gezet met zijn Zen 2-architectuur en de Ryzen 7 3700X en zit Intel-processors zoals de Core i7-9700K op de hielen op het vlak van single-core-prestaties.
