Intel Celeron N4500

De Intel Celeron N4500 is een dual-core SoC uit de Jasper Lake serie die vooral bedoeld is voor goedkope notebooks en begin 2021 werd aangekondigd. De twee Tremont CPU-kernen klokken tussen 1,1 en 2,8 GHz (single core Burst) en bieden geen HyperThreading (SMT). De N4500 gebruikt 1,5 MB L2- en 4 MB L3-cache. De chip wordt gefabriceerd in 10nm bij Intel (hoogstwaarschijnlijk in hetzelfde proces als Ice Lake).

CPU-architectuur

De processorarchitectuur heet Tremont en is een compleet herontwerp ten opzichte van de oude Golmont Plus cores in de voorganger. Volgens Intel kunnen de single thread prestaties van een core met gemiddeld 30% worden verbeterd (10 - 80% in alle tests van SPECint en SPECfp).

Kenmerken

Naast het dual-core CPU-blok integreert de SoC een 16 EU Intel UHD Graphics GPU geklokt van 350 - 750 MHz en een LPDDR4(x) dual channel geheugencontroller (tot 16 GB en 2933 MHz). De chip integreert nu ook gedeeltelijk Wi-Fi 6 (Gig+), 8 PCIe 3.0 lanes, 14 USB 2.0/ 3.2 poorten en twee SATA 6.0 poorten. Het pakket is groter geworden en meet 35 x 24 mm (vergeleken met 25 x 24 mm voor de N5030 bijvoorbeeld). De SoC is direct op het moederbord gesoldeerd (BGA) en kan niet eenvoudig worden vervangen.

Prestaties

Dankzij de nieuwe CPU architectuur zouden de prestaties van de N4500 iets sneller moeten zijn in vergelijking met de oude Celeron N4020 dual core. De Celeron N5100 biedt twee extra cores en is daardoor aanzienlijk sneller. Daarom is de CPU alleen geschikt voor basistaken als kantoorwerk, surfen op het web met eenvoudige multitasking.

Energieverbruik

Net als de voorganger specificeert Intel het TDP met 6 Watt (SDP 4,8 Watt - Scenario Design Power). De chip kan dus in theorie passief worden gekoeld, maar SKU's met ventilatoren zijn ook mogelijk.
