Intel 4000M

De Intel Core i3-4000M is een middle-class dual-core processor voor laptops gelanceerd in het tweede kwartaal van 2013. Hij is gebaseerd op de Haswell-architectuur en gefabriceerd in 22nm. Dankzij Hyperthreading kunnen de twee cores tegelijk tot en met vier threads in parallel aan, wat resulteert in efficiënter gebruik van de CPU. Elke core biedt een basiskloksnelheid van 2.4 GHz en ondersteunt geen Turbo Boost.

Haswell is de opvolger van de Ivy Bridge architectuur met verbeteringen aan zowel GPU als CPU performance. De CPU's zijn gefabriceerd in 22nm en bieden een geoptimaliseerde aftakkingsvoorspelling en bijkomende execution ports. Bovendien zouden nieuwe functionaliteiten zoals AVX2 en FMA de performance voor toekomstige applicaties moeten verhogen.

Dankzij deze veranderingen zijn de prestaties in verhouding tot de kloksnelheid tot bijna 10 procent verbeterd vergeleken met Ivy Bridge. Om die reden is de i3-4000M ongeveer even snel als het oude Sandy Bridge-model i5-2410M.

De geïntegreerde Intel HD Graphics 4600 levert 20 Execution Units (EU's) geklokt aan 400 MHz tot en met 1100 MHz met Turbo Boost, wat de chip ongeveer 30% sneller maakt dan een vergelijkbaar geklokte HD 4000.

De i3-4100M is afgestemd op een TDP van 37W, inclusief de grafische kaart, geheugen-controller en VRM's. Daarom is de CPU geschikt voor laptops van het 14 inch-formaat of groter.
