Nog steeds moet je na het in gebruik nemen van het toestel even wat tijd besteden aan het verwijderen van applicaties en het uitzetten van de nodige softwarefuncties maar daarna hou je een toestel over dat heel behoorlijk functioneert. De Honor 8 maakt nette foto's maar de dubbele camera biedt niet significant extra functionaliteit. Al is dat natuurlijk geen reden om het toestel niet te kopen. Gecombineerd met het prima uithoudingsvermogen en vingerafdrukscanner zijn er sowieso niet veel redenen om dit toestel niet te overwegen.

Net als de andere Honor-smartphones krijg je met de Honor 8 veel waar voor je geld. Het toestel is mooi, krachtig en heeft een goede camera. Toch zijn we iets meer onder de indruk van de Oneplus 3, die hetzelfde kost. Tevens raden we aan meteen een hoesje om het toestel te doen. De glazen achterkant zorgt ervoor dat de Honor 8 snel van oppervlakken en uit je handen glijdt.

By now I may have already answered most of your queries. The Huawei Honor 8 indeed appears to stand up to the OnePlus 3 and packs in something different in the form of a dual camera setup and outstanding build quality. Unfortunately it does not stand up to the OnePlus 3 which offers better value, better camera quality and better battery life. It also does not come with Dash Charge, a brawny Snapdragon 820 chipset, 6GB RAM and it also does not seem to support LTE bands in India.

The phone enjoys a nice design, compact and attractive, even if it’s possibly delicate with the glass background. The phone’s fast CPU but slower GPU give mixed performance. So that's that then - Huawei may be trying to run Honor as a separate brand in some regions, but the Chinese company's design philosophy is clearly visible in the 8. A flashier P9 without the Leica branding we can certainly live with. Knowing you save €150 over the original model makes it a very attractive offer. And there weren't any major corners cut either - outside of the missing film modes and the more limited use of the monochrome sensor the Honor 8 didn't really feel inferior in any way. The glass design might be a bit too flashy for some, but others will certainly prefer it over the metal of the P9.

Externally, it's slick and can grab eyes with a few subtle design features while also feeling solid and built with high tolerances.
