The Dell XPS 13 (2024) is another Snapdragon X Elite laptop that delivers the goods thanks to its fast performance and exceptional battery life. Those aspects alone are enough to overlook its controversial design and minimal port selection. Right now, it’s arguably the best XPS 13 ever released.

The Dell XPS 13 is someone’s perfect laptop. I love the design, the battery life, and the performance. But the display and keyboard are tough for me to get over. Sure, my eyes could adjust to the low-color, but my hands won’t get used to cramping up from using that keyboard. If you’re looking for a light laptop that’s still within that 13-inch range, check out the MacBook Air 13-inch. It’s everything you need except wider and deeper, offering you more space to type. But overall, if you’re comfortable with a tighter space and a duller display, the Dell XPS 13 provides a long list of positives to consider.

The switch to Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X Elite was supposed to provide a serious uptick in performance and efficiency over Intel’s Meteor Lake chipset. Surprisingly, while the performance is certainly there, battery life remained closer than I would have imagined. It’s fair to say that you won’t get better battery life than the Intel version of the XPS 13, and the MacBook Air M3 remains pretty far ahead. At the same time, the XPS 13 9345 ran a lot cooler, which is a major benefit. That alone is enough to warrant serious consideration. Then again, there will always be some degree of some uncertainty over compatibility with Windows on Arm, and it does cost an extra $150. I think that’s worth the upgrade, but it may not be a straightforward choice. Either way, I can say that if you want a small, light, and fast laptop, the XPS 13 (9345) is a solid choice.

Qualcomm Adreno X1-85 3.8 TFLOPS: Een geïntegreerde grafische adapter waar verschillende Snapdragon X Elite en X Plus processors over beschikken. De Adreno heeft geen SUHD 4320p monitorondersteuning en is wat prestaties betreft niet veel sneller dan de verouderende 96 EU Intel Iris Xe iGPU.

Deze grafische kaarten zouden alle huidige spellen moeten kunnen draaien, maar de meeste spellen zullen alleen met gemiddelde of lage detail instellingen en lage resoluties goed werken. Oudere of minder veeleisende spellen kunnen nog wel met goede grafische instellingen gespeeld worden.

SD X Elite X1E-80-100: Een matig snelle ARM architectuur system-on-a-chip voor gebruik in Windows laptops. De X1E-80-100 is vanaf mei 2024 het op één na snelste lid van de Snapdragon X productfamilie; als zodanig heeft het 12 Oryon CPU-kernen (8 P-cores en 4 E-cores) die op maximaal 4,0 GHz draaien, een 3,8 TFLOPS Adreno GPU, een 45 TOPS Hexagon NPU en een indrukwekkend snelle LPDDR5x-8448 geheugencontroller. USB 4.0, TB 4 en PCIe 4 ondersteuning is ook aan boord.

13.40": Dit schermformaat wordt vooral gebruikt voor subnotebooks, ultrabooks en convertibles. Voor alle drie types is dit formaat redelijk groot. De grootste verscheidenheid aan subnotebooks wordt vertegenwoordigd in deze klasse.

Grote schermformaten laten hogere resoluties toe. Details zoals letters zijn groter. Anderzijds is het energieverbruik lager bij kleine schermdiagonalen en de toestellen zijn kleiner, lichter en goedkoper.

1.228 kg: Dit gewicht is typisch voor grote tablets, kleine subnotebooks, ultrabooks en convertibles met een 10-11 inch schermdiagonaal.
