De Vivobook S 15 OLED was voorheen alleen verkrijgbaar met AMD- en Intel-processors, maar nu maakt de nieuwe ARM-chip - de Snapdragon X Elite - zijn debuut in deze grote multimedia-laptop. Het resultaat is een verrassend normale laptop met een indrukwekkend OLED-paneel, die helaas niet alle toepassingen en games aankan.
Qualcomm lanceert de nieuwe Snapdragon X Elite ongeveer negen maanden na de officiële aankondiging - met steun van Microsoft en alle grote laptopfabrikanten. Wij konden zowel de kleine X1E-78-100 als de X1E-80-100 testen en vergelijken met de huidige chips van AMD, Apple en Intel.

EN→NLSo that was all for my review of the new Asus Vivobook S15 (S5507) with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X Elite processor. It’s an entirely different breed of thin and light Windows laptops… a true competitor to Apple’s marvelous MacBook Air… that you and I have been waiting for all these years. And looking purely through the battery life and power efficiency lens, I must say this thing delivers on its promise almost flawlessly. I don’t think I mentioned this before but these Snapdragon machines don’t lose much of their performance when running in battery power either. Which has been one of my biggest icks with basically every Intel or AMD-powered laptop so far, to be honest. So… have Qualcomm and Microsoft finally, finally managed to offer a Windows experience that’s on par with Apple’s magnificent MacBook Air?

EN→NLThe Asus Vivobook S 15 is a competent entry into the Copilot Plus PC arena, but one that struggles to stand out from the alternatives. It delivers good performance, long battery life, and a nice mix of wired and wireless connectivity—but the same is generally true of other Copilot Plus PCs. I’m also not a fan of Asus’ ho-hum design, which isn’t fitting for what should be a flagship laptop. The Vivobook S 15 is a good pick if you want a thin and light 15-inch machine, though, and defeats alternatives like the Acer Swift Edge 16 and LG Gram 16.

Instead, we have the Vivobook S15: a device from the brand's more affordable line, but still extremely slim, low in weight, and blessed with a stunning OLED screen. It turns out to be a worthy showcase of Qualcomm's new Snapdragon X hardware and Microsoft's new software, with virtues that may endear it not just to small business users, but even IT buyers from larger enterprises.

EN→NLFocusing back on the ASUS Vivobook S15 (S5507), my first impression is based mostly from the fact that this is running Windows for Arm. Barring performance hits, it is a very functional piece of hardware at its current state but Qualcomm isn’t at fault here for not being able to bring out what the hardware can offer. As detailed earlier in this article, Microsoft’s focuses on technology first and decides later how to market that technology rather than focusing on actual user needs. This hurts its partner and hurts its users who can benefit greatly from a company that sees value in user experience. That said, as it is, the ASUS Vivobook S15 S5507 is a fully-functional daily driver if you focus mostly on cloud applications to light content creation.

We still need to do further tests on the VivoBook S 15 2024–particularly with the performance of its Snapdragon X Elite processor and how good are all of its AI features–before we can give a proper verdict to one of the first Copilot+ laptops that’s arriving in the Philippines.

Qualcomm Adreno X1-85 3.8 TFLOPS: Een geïntegreerde grafische adapter waar verschillende Snapdragon X Elite en X Plus processors over beschikken. De Adreno heeft geen SUHD 4320p monitorondersteuning en is wat prestaties betreft niet veel sneller dan de verouderende 96 EU Intel Iris Xe iGPU.
Deze grafische kaarten zouden alle huidige spellen moeten kunnen draaien, maar de meeste spellen zullen alleen met gemiddelde of lage detail instellingen en lage resoluties goed werken. Oudere of minder veeleisende spellen kunnen nog wel met goede grafische instellingen gespeeld worden.

SD X Elite X1E-78-100: Een systeem-op-een-chip met ARM-architectuur voor gebruik in Windows-laptops. De X1E-78-100 is het langzaamste lid van de Snapdragon X Elite productfamilie, vanaf mei 2024; als zodanig heeft het 12 Oryon CPU-kernen (8 P-cores en 4 E-cores) die op niet meer dan 3,4 GHz draaien en een 3,8 TFLOPS Adreno GPU. Een 45 TOPS Hexagon NPU, een indrukwekkend snelle LPDDR5x-8448 geheugencontroller, USB 4.0 ondersteuning, TB 4 ondersteuning en PCIe 4 ondersteuning zijn inbegrepen om het geheel zoeter te maken.
