There are certain qualities gaming laptops possess that take them above just a ‘gaming device’, and the Alienware M16 holds all the qualities of a premium entertainment laptop. It boasts a unique design that holds up to the ‘intergalactic’ aesthetic a lot of Alienware products strive for, with hexangle speakers on the chassis, a satisfying keyboard and a quirky alien LED power button. It’s an incredibly elegant machine that handles intense gaming without stress, though its major failing is its monstrous weight and thick, chunky build.

It’s too bad I only got to spend a week with this laptop, but it was still enough to get a good understanding of what Dell has to offer in their newest model. In short, it’s not half bad really. The important thing to ask yourself is whether you want anything more than just a gaming laptop. What I’m getting at is while it’s an excellent laptop for gaming, the battery life and overall heft make it a hard sell for using it for something other than gaming, such as work or causal multimedia use. The webcam and speakers don’t help the situation either. And let’s not forget how warm it gets from just watching Netflix. I’ll give Dell some credit, though – this is a very well-built laptop with some powerful hardware inside. It certainly lives up to the Alienware name and I’m happy they didn’t skip on the power delivery that they put into the CPU and GPU to make it perform at its peak potential. The trouble I have in recommending this machine stems from what the competition is offering. The Asus ROG Scar 16 that Andrei just reviewed is both smaller and lighter and actually seems to perform better in the benchmarks he ran. And then let’s compare the Alienware to the Razer Blade 16 I just recently reviewed, which is also much smaller and lighter. These two laptops performed almost identically too, so it makes little sense why you would gravitate to this over those options. But the cost is a major factor and $2600 is very reasonable for these specs, so perhaps this laptop will find a home with those willing to save a few hundred dollars over the other options. Personally, I would spend the money and choose something that is more than just a gaming laptop, though. But that’s just me. Anyways, as always, I hope you found this article informative. NVIDIA NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 Laptop GPU:

High-end grafische kaart voor laptops gebaseerd op de Ada Lovelace-architectuur. Biedt 12 GB GDDR6 (192 bit) en is configureerbaar met een TGP van 60 - 150 W (+ Dynamic Boost).

Deze grafische kaarten zouden de meeste moderne spellen op een hoge resolutie en hoge details moeten kunnen draaien (enkele uitzonderingen zijn mogelijk).

i9-13900HX: Mobiele CPU gebaseerd op de Raptor Lake serie die 24 cores biedt (8 prestatie-, 16 efficiëntiekernen) met een Boost core tot 5,8 GHz voor de P-cores. Vergelijkbaar met de Desktop i9-13900K, maar met lagere kloksnelheden en TDP.

Alienware: Alienware werd in 1996 opgericht in de VS. Het Europese hoofdkantoor is gevestigd in Ierland. Alienware maakt sinds 2006 deel uit van de Dell Group. Het productassortiment richt zich voornamelijk op gaming laptops en desktops, die ontwikkeld en geproduceerd worden door Dell. Het handelsmerk is een licht futuristisch ontwerp met een Alien als logo. Daarnaast worden er werkstations voor particulieren en bedrijven verkocht.

Zoals bij elk merk zijn er ook bij Alienware enkele punten van kritiek. Sommige klanten hebben geklaagd over de hoge prijzen van de producten, terwijl anderen kritiek hadden op de kwaliteit van de klantenservice. Er zijn ook enkele meldingen geweest van problemen met de betrouwbaarheid en duurzaamheid van sommige Alienware-producten. Veel klanten hebben echter ook positieve ervaringen met het merk en waarderen de krachtige spelcomputers.
