AMD Ryzen 7 4800U
De AMD Ryzen 7 4800U is een processor voor dunne en lichte laptops op basis van de Renoir-architectuur. De 4800U integreert alle acht kernen op basis van de Zen 2 microarchitectuur. Ze zijn geklokt op 1.8 (gegarandeerde basisklok) tot 4.2 GHz (Turbo) en ondersteunen SMT / Hyperthreading (16 threads). De chip wordt vervaardigd in het moderne 7 nm proces bij TSMC en mede dankzij dit proces adverteert AMD voor een 2x betere prestatie per Watt voor de Renoir chips. Vergeleken met de gelijknamige Ryzen 7 4800H biedt de 4800U een lagere TDP (15 versus 45 Watt) en basisklok (1,8 versus 2,9 GHz).
Volgens AMD is de Ryzen 7 4800U 4% sneller in de Cinebench R20 single thread test en 90% sneller in de multithreaded test in vergelijking met de snelle Intel Core i7-1065G7 (Ice Lake, 4 cores, 3,9 GHz). Dit betekent dat de CPU een van de snelste processoren in het 15 Watt TDP-bereik moet zijn en zeer geschikt voor veeleisende taken. De duurzame prestaties zijn echter sterk afhankelijk van het koelsysteem en de TDP-instellingen van de laptop.
Naast de acht CPU-kernen integreert de APU ook een Radeon RX Vega 8 geïntegreerde grafische kaart met 8 CU's en tot 1750 MHz. De tweekanaals geheugencontroller ondersteunt DDR4-3200 en het energiezuinige LPDDR4-4266 RAM. Verder is er 8 MB level 3 cache op de chip te vinden. De TDP van de APU is gespecificeerd op 15 Watt (standaard) en kan door de laptopleverancier worden geconfigureerd van 10 tot 25 Watt. Dat betekent dat de chip bedoeld is voor dunne en lichte laptops (maar met ventilatoren).
