AMD Ryzen 9 7940HS
De AMD Ryzen 9 7940HS is een snelle high-end laptopprocessor uit de Phoenix-serie. Hij biedt 8 cores (octa core) op basis van de Zen 4-architectuur die hyperthreading (16 threads) ondersteunt. De cores klokken van 4 (basis) tot 5,2 GHz (single core boost). De processor bevat 8 MB L2-cache en 16 MB L3-cache.
Prestaties
De gemiddelde 7940HS in onze database zit in dezelfde klasse als de Core i9-12900HK en ook, enigszins teleurstellend, de Ryzen 7 7840HS wat betreft multi-thread benchmarkscores.
Dankzij de fatsoenlijke koeloplossing en een CPU-vermogenslimiet van 80 W op de lange termijn, is de ROG Zephyrus G14 GA402XY een van de snelste laptops rond de 7940HS die we kennen. Hij kan ongeveer 15% sneller zijn in CPU-gebonden werklasten dan het traagste systeem met dezelfde chip in onze database, per augustus 2023.
De chip integreert een moderne en snelle RDNA 3 grafische kaart (iGPU) genaamd Radeon 780M met 12 CU's en een kloksnelheid tot 2,8 GHz. Verder bevat de Phoenix-serie een video-engine met AV1 de- en codering, een nieuwe Xilinx FPGA-gebaseerde XDNA AI-accelerator (Ryzen AI) die sneller zou moeten zijn dan de AI-engine in de Apple M2 SOC en een dual-channel DDR5-5600 / LPDDR5x-7500 geheugencontroller (met ECC-ondersteuning). De connectiviteitsvoorzieningen omvatten 2 mogelijke USB 4 (40 Gbps) poorten en 20 PCIe 4.0 lanes voor een GPU en SSD's.
De Phoenix-serie maakt gebruik van een enkel monolithisch ontwerp (in tegenstelling tot het chiplet-ontwerp van de 7045HX-serie) en is vervaardigd in het moderne 4nm-proces bij TSMC. De TDP kan geconfigureerd worden tussen 35 en 45 Watt.
