AMD R9 3950X

De AMD Ryzen 9 3950X is een high-end desktopprocessor met 16 cores op basis van de Zen 2-architectuur. Bij de lancering in november 2019 is het de snelste CPU van de Matisse-serie. De 3950X klokt van 3,5 GHz (basis) tot 4,7 GHz (Turbo voor een enkele kern). Alle zestien cores kunnen tot 4,1 GHz halen.

Dankzij de 16 cores en 32 threads biedt de 3950X uitstekende applicatieprestaties - als het aantal cores kan worden gebruikt. Dankzij de relatief hoge Turbo, bevinden de single core prestaties zich ook in het hoge segment. Voor games zijn er echter snellere CPU's, zoals de Core i9-10900K.

De Ryzen 9 3950X wordt gefabriceerd in 7 nm (de vier CCX-clusters met de kernen) bij TSMC en 12 nm (I/O-die) bij Globalfoundries. De TDP wordt geschat op 250 Watt en daarom heeft de CPU een zeer krachtig koelsysteem nodig.
