AMD A6-5200
De AMD A6-5200 is een mobile quad-core SoC voor low-end laptops, geïntroduceerd in het midden van 2013. Naast de 4 CPU cores met een kloksnelheid van 2.0 GHz (geen Turbo) integreert de 28-nanometer-chip ook een Radeon HD 8400 GPU, een single-channel DDR3(L)-1600 geheugen-controller en een Southbridge met verscheidene I/O-poorten. Architectuur Zowel Kabini (voor notebooks) en Temash (tablets en compacte sunotebooks) zijn gebaseerd op de nieuwe Jaguar architectuur van AMD, die die vorige Bobcat-modellen (bv. de E-350) vervangt. Volgens onze benchmarks is de performance in verhouding tot kloksnelheid met zo'n 15 procent verbeterd. Bovendien worden nu verscheidene moderne instructieset-extensies als SSE tot en met versie 4.2, AVX en AES ondersteund. Het fijnere 28-nanometer-proces van TSMC laat lagere voltages en/of hogere kloksnelheden toe, vergeleken met Bobcat, en een maximum van 4 CPU cores (Bobcat: 2 cores). Prestaties Afhankelijk van de applicatie, liggen de prestaties van de A6-5200 ergens tussen een Pentium 977 en een Core i3-3227U. De 4 CPU cores leveren goede resultaten in multi-threaded applicaties. Niettemin zou de APU toereikend moeten zijn voor alledaagse taken als Office, surfen op het web en multimedia. Grafisch De SoC integreert een Radeon HD 8400 GPU met 128 shaders, gebaseerd op de GCN architectuur en geklokt aan 600 MHz (geen Turbo). Gemiddeld bevindt de HD 8400 zich ongeveer op hetzelfde niveau als een Radeon HD 6490M of snellere versies van de Intel HD Graphics 4000. De processor zal echter in sommige recente games (2013) de beperkende factor zijn op het vlak van performance. Oudere en minder veeleisende games zouden vloeiend moeten lopen. Stroomverbruik Het stroomverbruik van de hele SoC is afgestemd op 25 Watt. De A6-5200 is bijgevolg geschikt voor notebooks van het 14 inch-formaat of groter.
