AMD A6-1450
De AMD A6-1450 is een mobile quad-core SoC voor compacte subnotebooks en tablets, voorgesteld in het midden van 2013. Naast de 4 CPU cores met een kloksnelheid van 1.0 GHz (Turbo tot 1.4 GHz), integreert de 28 nanometer-chip ook een Radeon HD 8250 GPU, een single-channel DDR3-1066 geheugencontroller en een Southbridge met verschillende I/O-poorten. Architectuur Zowel Kabini (voor notebooks) als Temash (tablets en compacte subnotebooks) zijn gebaseerd op AMD's nieuwe Jaguar architectuur, die de vorige Bobcat modellen vervangt (bv. de E-350). De prestaties in verhouding tot de kloksnelheid zijn verbeterd met zo'n 15 procent. Bovendien worden verschillende moderne instructieset-extensies zoals SSE tot en met versie 4.2, AVX en AES nu ondersteund. Het fijnere 28-nanometer proces van TSMC laat lagere voltages en/of hogere kloksnelheden toe vergeleken met Bobcat evenals een maximum van 4 CPU cores. Prestaties Dankzij de lage kloksnelheid van 1.0 GHZ zijn de prestaties voor slecht geparallelliseerde applicaties eerder bescheiden. Zelfs in Turbo-Dock mode is de A6-1450 nauwelijks sneller dan de oude E-350. Als alle 4 cores echter aan het werk zijn, evenaart de chip de performance van de Arrandale-gebaseerde Core i3-380UM. Voor eenvoudige office- en multimedia-taken heeft de A6-1450 genoeg rekenkracht; meer veeleisende software zal de CPU echter snel tot aan zijn limiet brengen. Grafisch De SoC integreert een Radeon HD 8250 GPU met 128 shaders, gebaseerd op de GCN achitectuur en geklokt aan 300 MHz. Gemiddeld genomen evenaart de HD 8250 een Radeon HD 6450M of Intel HD Graphics (Ivy Bridge). Veel recente games (van 2013) zijn daarom nauwelijks speelbaar. Een aantal oudere of minder veeleisende games zullen echter vloeiend lopen. Stroomverbruik Het stroomverbruik van de gehele SoC is ingesteld op 8 Watt of 15 Watt in Turbo Dock mode. De A6-1450 is dus geschikt voor slanke subnotebooks of grotere tablets.
