AMD A10-4600M
De AMD A10-4600M is een mobiele quad-core processor gebaseerd op de Trinity architectuur. Officieel geïntroduceerd in Q2 2012 is het de directe opvolger van de Llano A-serie van APU's (Accelerated Processing Unit) en op het moment de snelste Trinity APU op de markt. De processor is gemaakt op 32nm SOI en integreert een 2.3 GHz CPU (tot 3.2 GHz met Turbo Core) met een relatief snelle Radeon HD 7660G GPU naast een dual-channel memory controller, video de- en encoders en een northbridge. De CPU core zijn gebaseerd op een vernieuwde Bulldozen architectuur genaamd Piledriver. Hoewel de A10-4600M gezien wordt als een quad-core processor heeft de processor slechts twee modules met vier integer-cores en twee floating-point cores. Hierdoor is het niet een ware quad-core processor. Vergeleken met de vorige Bulldozer cores heeft AMD hun IPC (instructions per clock) prestaties van de Trinity cores verbeterd en tegelijkertijd hogere kloksnelheden mogelijk gemaakt. Echter, vergeleken met de Llano processor zijn de multithread prestaties van Trinity maar minimaal verbeterd. De nieuwe Turbo Core 3.0 functie doet het goed en slaagt erin om de prestaties bij één enkele core te verbeteren hoewel deze nog steeds niet het niveau van Intel's Turbo Boost kan evenaren. Desondanks is AMD erin geslaagd om ook andere functies te implementeren zoals de AVX extension (met FMA) en ondersteuning voor AES encryptie. De geïntegreerde DirectX 11 Radeon HD 7660G biedt alle 384 shader cores van de Trinity chip en zal, dankzij de Turbo Core, ergens tussen de 497 en 686 MHz lopen afhankelijk van de vraag van de applicatie. Gemiddeld zal de prestatie van de HD 7660G GPU vergelijkbaar zijn aam die van een Radeon 6650M en is een stuk sneller dan de HD Graphics 4000 in Intel's Ivy Bridge. Het verbruik van de A10-4600M staat op 35 watt en is daardoor vergelijkbaar aan mid-range dual-core Ivy Bridge processors. Hiermee is de A10-4600M het beste geschikt voor 14-inch notebooks of groter.
